We wish to repeat what we said in the foreword to Volumes I and II of the History of the IAUP: We hope that this effort to commemorate the 50 year history of the International Association of University Presidents (IAUP) will be appreciated for what it is: a look at our past, at our roots, with the conviction that we can learn from it and from the great vision of our founding leaders and our predecessors, and at the same time look to the future, one that in many ways we can build ourselves as the architects of our own destiny.
