У статті проаналізовано зародження, розвиток та особливості наджанрового утворення "книга/цикл". Окремо розглядається історія явища, що в тій чи іншій формі існувало в різні літературні епохи, та історія терміна, який виник досить недавно. Розглянуто принципи циклізації, спільні та відмінні риси між книгою/циклом та жанровим утворенням.

This article investigates the conception, development and peculiarity of the notion of "book\cycle". The history of the notion which in this or that form existed in different literature epochs is under special review like the history of the term which appeared comparatively recently. Principles of cycling, common and distinctive features between book\cycle and genre formation are analysed.
