Розкрито сутність основних положень концепції сталого розвитку. Зазначено, що це поняття є не лише своєрідним відкриттям сучасної суспільствознавчої думки, але й науковим синтезом багатьох теоретичних положень, які тією чи іншою мірою мають значне історичне підґрунтя. Досліджено також етимологію дефініції "сталий розвиток". Наголошено на необхідності розмежування сталого розвитку як певного суспільного феномена, суспільного процесу і сталого розвитку як певної наукової концепції, наукової теорії.

Раскрыта сущность основных положений концепции устойчивого развития. Отмечено, что эти понятия являются не только своеобразным открытием современной научной мысли, но и синтезом многих теоретических положений, в той или иной степени, имеющие широкую историческую основу. Исследована этимология дефиниции "устойчивое развитие". Обоснована необходимость разграничения устойчивого развития как определенного общественного феномена, общественного процесса и устойчивого развития как определенной научной концепции, научной теории.

1. The essence of the main provisions of the concept of sustainable development was solved in the work. It is noted that this concept is not only a kind of modern social science discovery thoughts, but scientific synthesis of many theoretical positions that have significant historical background to some extent. It also was indicated that the latest development is the history of sustainable development issues which are closely related to the analysis of socio-economic and environmental and economic factors that led to the development of scientific and technological progress. Doctrines of known economists and sociologists on social aspects of the processes of growth and development of the society under the influence of scientific and technological progress, which somehow affected the development of the concept of sustainable development, were considered. The significant contribution to the development of the concept of sustainable development made by Ukrainian scientists was determined. The authors noted the relevance of sustainable development issues proving facts of relevant teaching courses at local universities, scholarly discussion of such topics in the theoretical and practical conferences and specialized international publications. The etymology of the definition "sustainable development" was investigated. The need to distinguish sustainable development as a particular social phenomenon, the social process and sustainable development as a scientific concept, a scientific theory were emphasized by the authors. That is always advisable to distinguish between sustainable development in the ontological and epistemological terms. More complete description of sustainable development as a social phenomenon is advisable to analyze as a spacetime dimension and must determine its quantitative and qualitative characteristics, creating a theoretical and methodological framework for modeling and forecasting of socio-economic development.
