Стаття присвячена місцю допоміжних лучників римської армії у бою за доби принципату. У першій частині статті подається історіографія та актуалізація проблеми. У другому розділі приділено увагу формуванню перших регулярних загонів римських допоміжних лучників. Були розглянуті військові та політичні фактори, що сприяли збільшенню та поширенню цього виду військ у лавах збройних сил Римської імперії. Приділено увагу діям та функціям допоміжних лучників у римській військовій колоні під час маршу. У третьомурозділі розглядаються призначення та взаємодія лучників з іншими видами військ на полі бою: легіонами, важкоозброєною допоміжною піхотою та кіннотою. Детально подано взаємодію кінних лучників з іншими загонами армії під час переслідування ворога, який тікав з поля бою. Четверта частина подає інформацію стосовно дій сагіттаріїв під час облоги: розташування у бою як при штурмі, так і обороні фортець та інших передових оборонних пунктів. У п'ятій частині приділено увагу пропорціям лучників відносно інших видів військ у різних регіонах імперії. Ці данні містяться в окремій таблиці, що подана наприкінці статті. Особливу увагу було приділено регіонам найбільшого розповсюдження сагіттаріїв у якості гарнізонів провінцій: Сирія, Каппадокія, Дакія, Паннонія. У розділі розкрито питання стосовно специфіки завдань та ефективності допоміжних лучників у боротьбі з тутешнім ворогом. Шостий, заключний розділ статті - це висновки, що були отримані внаслідок проведеної роботи.
The article is dedicated to the place of the auxiliary archers of the Roman Army in battle during the Era of Principality. The first part concentrates around historiography and updating problems of the article. The second section focuses on the formation of the first regular troops of Roman auxiliary archers. The military and political factors that contributed to the increase and spread of this type of troops in the armed forces of the Roman Empire were considered. Attention was paid to the actions and functions of auxiliary archers in the march column of troops. The third section discusses the purposes and an interaction between other types of archer troops on the battlefield: the legions, auxiliary heavy infantry and cavalry. Details are given for horse archers interaction with other units of the army during the persecution of the enemy, who fled from the battlefield. The fourth part provides the information for actions of archers during the siege: the location in the battle during the assault and the defense of fortresses. The fifth part deals with proportions of the archers to other armed forces in various regions of the Empire. These data are contained in a separate table that filed end of the article. Particular attention was paid to the regions of major distribution of archers, as garrisons provinces: Syria, Cappadocia, Dacia, Pannonia. Solved issues regarding to the specificity of tasks and effectiveness auxiliary archers in the battles against a local enemy. The sixth and final section of the article are the conclusions obtained as the result of the work.
