У статті, на основі архівних етнографічних джерел та польових записах автора, розглядаються деякі українські традиційні магічно-лікувальним обрядодії, що проводилися над тілом хворого або його символічними замінниками. Серед найпоширеніших варто виокремити наступні: викачування хвороби на яйце або хліб, обмірювання ниткою тіла хворого, "перепікання" у печі, проймання тіла в певні отвори, а також вмивання, обприскування, купання хворого у заговореній воді та ін. Приділена увага лікуванню хворого тіла через маніпуляції з його одягом. Показано, що за традиційними віруваннями українців, вказані символічні дії мали спричинити до практичного результату - одужання, що може бути пояснено беззаперечною вірою пацієнта в ефективність усіх магічних дій та маніпуляцій.
This articles researched and academically analyzed very unique ethnographic materials, archival as well as the fruit of author's own field research, which bring to light the most taboo spheres of traditional culture. These include a superstition about the illnesses of body and some elements of the magic ceremony in folk medicine in Ukrainian traditional culture. Among the most popular were: exclusion of illness from body to egg or bread, thread measuring patient's body, symbolic "bake" body in the furnace. Different manipulation with body and special water to utter an incantation were also popular. This ceremony of the magico-religious and oral-incantation genre of folk medicine was aimed at patient recovery. One reason of them was a belief. All people from past claimed that the magic ceremony had worked for them. It had relieved them of their psychological and physical ailments.
