In the paper two alternative approaches to hte synthesis of nonparametric algorithm of signal processing are disscused. The first is based on the use of a kernel estimate of a probability density. In the second - the signal model in the form of a mixture of distributions and the maximum likelihood estimate for parameters of a mixture are used. It is shown that, with some restrictions, both these approaches are equivalent. On the basis of these estimates nonparametric algorithms of signal detection are constructed.
