The task of the timely detection of a lightning threat on board of aircraft in order to provide the pilot with necessary information to avoid dangerous zones in flight is of great importance especially under the condition of implementation of the new CNS/ATM and 'free flight' concept when a pilot get much more freedom at maneuvering.
