This article shows results of the exploration of the petroleum products quantity control systemsin horizontal tanks which use as the basic different physical phenomena. There are few directionsof research. The first problem which was recognised is analysis of phase transitions ofpetroleum products. The exploration has revealed that petroleum products nearby tanks (in airand ground) can considerably exceed standards and losses are rising. As a result the petroleumproducts quantity control systemsare used. Another problem which article shows is imperfecttechnical solutions during the formation of such systems. Modern quantity control systemswere exploded. It was analyzed perspective devices and theory in discovering of new methodfor level control systems in tanks. Differentiations of the constituent elements of the petroleumproducts quantity control systems by nominating additional requirements during the designwere proposed
