The article deals with effectiveness of the impact of the students' self-governance on the processes of democratization of higher education. The authors identify ways of real involvement of scientific societies in the process of higher education governance and conditions of increasing students' and postgraduate students' public activity in the university. It is worth noting that at the time when the Ukrainian state is going through the hard periods, the desire of young people to participate in the public lifeis important more than ever. This is especially true for students that have repeatedly demonstrated their active position in the most important issues related to the future of our country. Certainly, the greatest interest of students is called by provisions of Law of Ukraine “On higher education” related to the autonomy of universities that give universities more autonomy, including students' self-governance. The question of students' social activity, including future lawyers, is important in this context especially as for impact on the organization of higher education institutions and process of democratization of society.
