The current state of development of the social protection of civil aviation employees requires the complex study of scientific thought about the legal definition of "social protection" and "social security", their relationships and functioning in society, which will be one of the links in the way of ensuring the effectiveness of the mechanism of social protection of the Civil Aviation employees. Based on the analysis of the different researchers points of view (such as V. Andreev, A. Machulska, N. Bolotin, P. Pylypenko, J. Sirota, B. Stashko, S. Prilipko, A. Lapka, I. Yaroshenko, T. Harasymiw, L. Barannik, S. Ustinov, A. Saynetskiy and other) concept of the "social security" and "social protection" of Civil Aviation employees is determined. Thus, the social security of civil aviation employees is a system of the social relations, which are created to provide uniform distribution of material and financial resources (premiums) and state-guaranteed social support to employees of civil aviation in the form of pensions, social assistance and social benefits of certain social services, etc. in case of difficult circumstances that led to disability and basic livelihood. Social protection of civil aviation is defined as activities of the socially oriented state, which is realized through complex of the organizational, legal and socioeconomic measures and safeguards that ensure the material and spiritual needs as well as compensate for limitations established by law, in connection with professional responsibilities.
