The article is devoted to the legal nature of ideology as a political and legal phenomenon. The author substantiates theoretical and methodological foundations of the ideology, analyzes the views of Ukrainian scientists on the mechanism of its formation under conditions of globalization and transformation of the national legal system of Ukraine. The author substantiates theoretical and methodological foundations of the ideology, analyzes the views of Ukrainian scientists on the mechanism of its formation under conditions of globalization and transformation of the national legal system of Ukraine. Difficult economic, political and social processes in modern society demonstrate the urgent necessity of the new approaches to the unresolved issues in the legislation andstate building. Thus, we suggest paying attention to the content of legal ideology and essence of the legal system. Ideology as a part of consciousness is the subject of philosophical analysis that reveals heuristics (cognitive) abilities and social spheres of ideology. As a specific form of consciousness ideology is formed by differentiation of society, especially with the appearing of nations and sovereign states. Ideology serves as a powerful means of people's management as well as of their behavior.
