The features of protection of the personal data in the practice of the European countries are studied in the article. Moreover, the author determines the main menaces ofthe modern information space in Ukraine. With the increasing frequent attacks on servers of the state authorities, on the personal information of individuals and threats of corporate security such as theft, followed by the spreading corporate information online, we mention the growing scientific and practical interest for the subject of this study. Accordingly, on the background of these occasions, special attention should be paid to international legal experience of protection of personal dataand its adaptation in Ukraine, because the right to protection of personal data is one of the fundamental principles of civil society and has proper legal regulation in the developed countries that may serve as basis for improvement of national legislation in this area. Thus, the protection of personal information is understood as an integral part of the human right to protection of privacy that is guaranteed by Universal Declaration of Human Rights, 1948 (Art. 12) and the European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, 1953 (Art. 8).
