У статті визначається поняття "функції профспілок", розкриваються функції профспілок як основний напрямок їх діяльності по здійсненню представництва і захисту прав та інтересів найманих працівників перед роботодавцями і реалізації ними повноважень по контролю за дотриманням законодавства про працю і охорону праці, аналізуються позиції науковців щодо їх класифікації.
В статье определяется понятие "функции профсоюзов", раскрываются функции профсоюзов как основное направление их деятельности по осуществлению представительства и защите прав и интересов наемных работников перед работодателями и реализации ими полномочий по контролю над соблюдением законодательства о труде и охране труда, анализируются позиции ученых относительно их классификации.

A characteristic featureof the human and civil rights in a democratic society is the provision of comprehensive real implementation of a wide range of rights and freedoms important of which is the right to work and to unite in trade unions. Place of trade unions in the system of labor law subjects is of particular importance for the development of democratic tendencies of society. The main purpose of the trade unions is to represent and protect the labor rights and interests of wage earners. Since the announcement ofUkraine as an independent state regulation of the trade unions has undergone significant reform. This resulted in a change of regulatory framework for trade unions. Unions lose some features, numerous trade union rights and powers have changed. The realities of today require a qualitatively new understanding of the major functional activities of trade unions in today's society.
