The article is devoted to studying the problem of renovating the structure and content of fundamental education at a technical university as а general scientific basis of personality formation. The role and place of fundamental education in the system of university education have been shown. The main principles have been formulated allowing to optimize learning activity and turn the educational process into a systematic dissipative structure.
