В статті розглянуто поняття терміну «регенерація» в урбаністичному значенні, на основі історичних передумов і теоретичних складових, розширено суть і тлумачення його.
The current state of the urban environment is not limited by the temporal dimension of the last decades, but is the result of centuries of processes of human existence, reflects cultural and artistic trends, the development of science and technology. It includes buildings from different periods of history, which have a harmony placement in a specific area. Regeneration is a new term for urbanism; it becomes in use by the end of the 20th century, however have long been known methods of improving the relevance of the urban environment. The basis for the creation of concepts of regeneration is
the natural process of improving the city or “ring development”, social trends, economic expediency, cataclysms. Urban regeneration is the way to reverse the declining life of historical areas by improving the physical structure and function to stimulate social and economic regeneration. The special points of regeneration are the maximum preservation of the authenticity of an area or object and enrichment with a new architecture and functional solutions.
Regeneration is a natural process of urban development, it also viewed as a societal phenomenon, and this requires a broader conceptual framework often with a transnational scope. Cities are the focal point for the reflexive processes of society. Successful regeneration of cities depends on social activity and their needs. The regeneration of historical cities in a traditional to an aria but modern manner can save the sense of place and create the new value for all of the citizens. Due to regeneration, we can adapt the historical environment to an abundance of changes and developments, which make our modern urban world more useful for nowadays and improve the quality of life of the people.
