The article analyzes the evolution of Naberezhne highway in Kiev, studied modern foreign renovation tendencies of urban waterfronts and determined to regain domestic embankments. The article represents the principles of evolution the embankments in overall town-planning system in architectural and theoretical heritage of Ukraine and analyzed on the basis of their foreign counterparts hypothesis of spiralnist development of urban waterfronts, especially for transport and pedestrian communication. The development of modern urban transport caused many environmental and urban planning, functional and regional problems, most of them are made by transport and pedestrian conflict. In areas such complex urban structures like embankments should be provide with favorable conditions for recreation for urban and ecological balance of the city. Considering the development of the waterfront is in the direct connection with the transport, we can define the next stages of evolution quays: the formation, development, decline and refurbishment. There are several ways to renovation for Naberezhne highway in Kiev. Transport conflict can be solved by using certain techniques. One of them is – one level transport and pedestrian differentiation, which involves the dispersal of traffic and pedestrians. It is known that the combination of promenade and transport functions at a waterfront is possible by the construction of the tonnel with roof-exploited area, as is made in Dusseldorf. Also it is possible to integrating new types of transport connections or replacing public transport. Alternative transport annexation is the most radical and requires a detailed analysis of the transport situation in the city and considerable investment, it is quite acceptable as Jong-Ki-Jung river`s experience in Seoul shows. All these features can be combined and supplemented depending on local factors influencing the architectural – spatial structure of the waterfront. Comparative analysis of the evolution of embankments proves that Naberezhne highway in Kiev is just on the verge of renovation. en_US
