Abstract:
У статті висвітлено питання актуальності дослідження фортифікацій України в аспекті вивчення організації оборони прибрамних
укріплень середньовічних замків, фортець та міст. Розглянуто особливості
функціонально-просторової структури та хронологічної еволюції трьох
найдавніших міських брам Старого замку Кам’янця-Подільського, які слугували основним в’їздом до міста. Просторово складна і хронологічно багатошарова система прибрамних укріплень, що функціонувала впродовж
XVII століть, не має аналогів у європейській фортифікації.
The article raises the issue of the relevance of researching the
fortifications of Ukraine in terms of studying the defense organization of the
fortified gates in medieval castles, fortresses and cities. The features of the
spatial and functional structure are viewed, as well as the chronological evolution of three ancient city gates in the Kamyanets-Podilsky Old Castle, which
served as the main entrance to the city. Spatially complex and chronologically
multilayered system of gate fortifications, which functioned for over 17 centuries, has no analogues in the European fortification.
