Abstract:
У цьому оповіданні Дональда Біссета ми спостерігаємо за несподіваною дружбою між калюжею та булочкою
з родзинками, яка випадково потрапила в воду. Вони спілкуються та взаємодіють, в кінці-кінців до них
приєднуються мама-качка з каченятами. Ця історія має циклічну структуру, що підкреслює постійний потік життя
та важливість співчуття й дружби навіть у взаємодії найнезначніших персонажів.
Циклічність твору проявляється через повторення подій та символів на різних етапах розповіді. Початок і
кінець історії обрамлені однаковими сценами дощу, утворення нової калюжі на тротуарі, а також зустрічі мамикачки з каченятами. Сама концепція твору про циклічність часу, була розвинена в Давньому Єгипті, де жук-скарабей
символізував вічний рух і відродження було перевидано. Ця концепція потім перейшла до Давньої Греції, де
піфагорійці та стоїки розширили її, пов'язуючи циклічність з гармонією у всесвіті. Повторюваність створює
враження обертання в ритмі життя, підкреслює постійний потік часу та незмінність природних процесів. Кожен
цикл приносить нові можливості для спілкування та зустрічей між героями, але в той же час підтримує почуття
стабільності та гармонії у світі твору.
Загальною метою оповідання є передача ідеї про важливість співчуття, дружби та спільності. Воно наводить
на думку, що навіть найнезначніші речі, як калюжа чи булочка з родзинками, можуть знайти взаєморозуміння та
підтримку у один одного.
